WEEKLY UPDATE – June 30th
Tonight featured two A games and two B games at Dulude and one A game and two B games at McNabb. It was a cool night compared to last week. We saw some tight games, a shootout, a shutout and blowouts. Overall, it was a night full of excitement and variety on the floor.
RECAPS - Dulude
Morning Wood vs Savage Seagulls
The first game of the night was a hard-fought battle for third place. The scoring went back and forth in the first period, with MW opening the scoring and SS answering within a minute. MW held a narrow 4-3 lead at the break, but SS tied it early in the second. MW quickly regained the lead 5-4, only for SS to even things up again with four minutes remaining. The game went to a shootout, where MW emerged with a 6-5 victory.

Sacred Blue vs Parking Lot Boys
The first period was a defensive battle, with neither team able to find the back of the net. The score remained 0-0 heading into the break. Just seconds into the second period, Chris O'Callaham scored for PLB to break the deadlock. SB pulled their goalie in the final minute in a last push to tie the game. However, PLB held strong defensively and secured a 1-0 victory.

Wang Gang vs The Northmen
TN opened the scoring six minutes into the game, setting the early pace. The teams traded goals, with TN holding a brief 2-1 lead. In the final minutes of the first period, WG surged ahead, scoring three quick goals to take a 4-2 lead into the break. Connor Reffo-Beaudet continued the momentum in the second, scoring twice more to complete his hat trick and extend WG's lead to 6-2. WG added another goal to seal a convincing 7-3 victory.

The Spitting Llamas vs Ottawa Blueberry Bulldogs
OBB jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead before TSL scored a breakaway goal in the final thirty seconds of the first period to make it 2-1 at the break. TSL wasted no time tying the game early in the second, evening the score at 2-2. Jeff Levey responded by using his speed to regain the lead for OBB, making it 3-2. Two minutes later, OBB extended the lead to 4-2, and shortly after, both teams traded goals to bring it to 5-3. TSL pulled their goalie in the final minute, but OBB held strong and secured the 5-3 win.

RECAPS - MCNABB
Gnomes vs Blades of Glory
Our first game is a battle of the basement. Both teams came out strong but it was Blades ofGlory (BOG) that struck first with tip in by Justin Graham. Gnomes (GNM) soon followed on xxx’s shot from the slot. 30 seconds later BOG regained the lead on Dawson Shapley’s goal. Derek Sharpley gave BOG a two-goal cushion to close out the first period. As GNM was serving a double-minor, Derek Sharpley added his 2 nd of the night for a comfortable BOG lead at 4-1. BOG’s Justin Graham closed off the scoring with his 2 nd of the night to solidify a strong 5-1 victory for Blades of Glory.

Vikings vs Calgary Hitmen
Our 2 nd game of the night is a matchup between the first and last place in the B division. Vikings (VKG) wasted no time to get on the board on a shot Devin Costain. Vikings held onto the lead until the 6-minute mark when Cody Petrash would tie it up for Calgary Hitmen (CH). CH would dominate the first period including three more goals from Cody Petrash, one from Joshua Laurin and another from Jude Roberge. CH would go into the 2 nd period with a strong 6-1 lead. CH would capitalize on a double minor penalty by scoring two powerplay goals from Ted Cass and Ben Stinson. Jude Roberge would net his 2 nd goal of the night giving CH a commanding 9-1 lead. Despite the score VKG weren’t going down without a fight, when Joel Grundy managed to get one passed Matthew Lo giving VKG 2 scores on the board. CH would add a couple more for this one-sided affair on a final score of 11-2.

Just the Tip-in vs Redline
Our final game at McNabb would see two evenly matched teams at mid-pack of the A Division. Just the Tip-in (JTI) opened up the scoring early in the game when Cole Spearey capitalized on a loose ball and tipped it in. Devin Bourassa followed with his own shot to the back on the net giving JTI a 2-0 lead. Graham Shaw would close out the period for what seemed like a dominating lead going into the 2 nd period with JTI leading 3-0 and Redline (RL) only managing four shot in the 1 st period. RL regrouped for the 2 nd period with Jeff Armstrong getting his team on the board. Off the next faceoff, Brandon Boire would shoot it forward directly in the back of the net. We now find ourselves with a closer game at 3-2. Will Hughes would make sure to have a good cushion and quickly followed by another from Zach Macdonald with JTI leading 5-2. Jeff Armstrong would get his 2 nd of the night, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback, with Cole Spearey’s 2 nd to close off the game and secure a 6-3 win for JTI.

WEEKLY UPDATE – Wednesday July 2nd
Tonight, featured three A games and two B games, with plenty of action across the board. The first five matchups were all decided by three-goal margins. A key highlight was the battle for first place in the B division between Wang Gang and Calgary Hitmen. Fans were treated to a high number of goals alongside some strong performances in net. Overall, it was a well-rounded night of competitive and entertaining hockey.

The Spitting Llamas vs Fumbuckers
FUM were the first to score, getting on the board early. However, TSL quickly took control, responding with four unanswered goals. The score stood at 4-1 in favor of TSL at halftime. FUM again opened the scoring in the second half, but TSL countered with several more goals to maintain their lead. Marc-Antoine Petrut led the way with six points, as TSL secured a 7-3 victory.

Gnomes vs Savage Seagulls
SS opened the scoring just a minute into the game and added a second soon after. GNM responded with a powerplay goal from Dylan Atkinson, but SS quickly answered with another from Adam Winges. SS finished the first period leading 4-2. They continued their dominance in the second, scoring four quick goals to take an 8-2 lead within the first seven minutes. Dom Caminiti led SS with seven points as they went on to win the game 10-2.

Morning Wood vs Redline
This game was tightly contested from the start, with goalies Paquette and Girgrah making impressive saves throughout. The deadlock was finally broken in the last two minutes of the first half with a goal from Nick Argo, giving MW a 1-0 lead at the break. MW extended their lead early in the second before RL responded with a goal from Zach Bissonnette. Paul Chahal restored the two-goal cushion for MW, going top shelf to make it 3-1. MW sealed the win with an empty netter, finishing the game 4-1.

Calgary Hitmen vs Wang Gang
WG opened the scoring just seconds into the game, but CH quickly responded to tie it 1-1. WG regained control in the latter half of the first period, finishing it with a 4-1 lead. They struck early again in the second to extend their advantage. CH managed to score midway through the period, but WG remained dominant. Gabriel Diotte-Joly completed his hat trick with five minutes remaining, as WG secured a commanding 8-2 victory.

Vikings vs Sacred Blue
SB took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Maxime Thauvette and Chris Beaulne. They quickly extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second on a powerplay. VKG responded three minutes later with a goal from Paolo Pettofrezza. However, SB added two more goals to push the score to 5-1. That would be the final, as SB controlled the game from start to finish.
