It’s all over, congratulations to 2 Sticks 1 Puck (A) and Dan Murphy Ford Ball Blasterz (B) for winning their respective divisions.  To see the winning team pictures before they are uploaded to the website check them out at www.facebook.com/htbhl and don’t forget to LIKE US!

On this final day we had 2 games that really mattered with both the A and B final taking place with a consolation fun game in between.  Our first game was a barnburner in the A that needed overtime to decide a winner while the B final had some stellar goaltending but only one team that could really find the back of the net.  Offensive standouts were SP Kent Jacobs (2G/1A), DMF Devlin Brunet (2G/1A) and DMF Pat Juneau (2G/1A) while DMF Troy Thomson (1G/17shots) was tops between the pipes as we wrapped up another season.

Thanks to all that made this season possible, we hope you enjoyed the league and have a great rest of your summer.  If you are interested in playing in the Fall and want to register as an individual, with a group of friends or enter a full team please contact jonathan@htbhl.com

Now on to the recaps:

A FINAL – Underdogz vs 2 Sticks 1 Puck

Here we go, the A div championship game as we start the afternoon with a bang. Both these teams were pretty much unbeatable during the regular season with SP having the upper hand by 1 point but both teams had no regulation losses so we all knew this would be a good game with a lot of firepower and heart on both sides. SP Mario Bray guaranteed victory on FB earlier that day so let’s see if that jinxed them or if they pulled through. This game would start off pretty tight defensively as both teams were playing smart and simple.  We would get the first goal 10min in from UND Michel Emard as he would blast one from half past the goalie. SP would tie it up 6min later as Marc-Andre Jolicoeur would blast one from half that would find a way in possibly redirecting off an UND player. With both goalies playing well and the two sides playing tight we wouldn’t have another goal until the halfway mark of the 2nd and like déjà vu Emard would blast his 2nd past the goalie. Now with the score 2-1 here we go as both teams start going for it and loosening up as we get the tying goal from SP Eric Lamothe who finishes off a nice passing play. Less than 2min later UND Marc Pelletier would rip one from half retaking the 1 goal lead. Again, less than 2min later SP Kent Jacobs would snipe one in tight to tie it back up. Less than a min later Jacobs would score his 2nd knocking home a rebound in front to take their first lead of the game. 2min later with less than 3min to go in the game UND Marc Pelletier would backhand one through on the goalie to tie it up with a clutch goal. That would take us to OT in this thrilling game. And wouldn’t you know it, SP Mario Bray would run around the gym with ball go around the net wrap it around and somehow squeak it in to get the victory which he guaranteed earlier on with a beauty goal and what a game. This was a fun game to watch and everyone played well on both sides as this is what it’s all about. SP win the ship 5-4 in OT.

SP – Ryan Girgrah – 27 shots

UND – Jaimy White – 34 shots

B FINAL - Dan Murphy Ford Ball Blasterz vs The Usual Suspects

Here we go, the B championship. These are two similar teams that are pretty equal in talent and both deserve to be here as they beat some good teams to advance. They finished with nearly identical records in the season. We wouldn’t have our first goal until 9min in to the first half as we have another tightly played game with both teams playing well defensively. DMF Pat Juneau would get us started sniping from an angle. 2min later Kurt Mcconnell would run in through the middle battling just to keep the ball and would win every little battle and get to the net and score an absolute beauty doing so himself. 3min later DMF would retake the 1 goal lead as Juneau would score his 2nd showing nice patience in front electing to go forehand backhand. That was with 6min left in the first and that’s where we would finish in this low scoring affair, 2-1 at the half. The second half would start the same as both teams playing tight and taking shots when they could but we wouldn’t get another goal until less than 10 left in the game as both goalies were putting up walls. DMF Devlin Brunet would finish off a rebound on the backhand. 7min later Brunet would stay with the ball following it across the net before burying it for his 2nd and a 4-1 lead. DMF would then shut TUS down who had a few good chances but goalie Troy Thomson would be up to the task as TUS would be denied any goals and would go down to the Sunday Vanier B Champs 4-1 DMF the final.

DMF – Troy Thomson – 17 shots

TUS - Scott M Gordon – 27 shots
