RECAPS

Vikings vs Ottawa Blueberry Bulldogs

Feeling Good… First up on this rainy Wednesday was Vikings taking on Ottawa Blueberry Bulldogs. It took almost 10 minutes for the first goal of the game as Sean Mullan (3G) would bang in a rebound off a shot from the blue line. That would be the only goal of the period, as OBB was headed to the 2nd half with a 1-goal lead, shots 12-7 in their favour. Christian Vandersterre (1G/3A) would make it a 2-goal lead with a blast from the blue line. A couple of minutes later, Noah Turgeon (1G) would follow suit with a one-timer as he was alone on the side of the net. With a little over 6 minutes left in the game, OBB would take advantage of a power play as David Deblois (1G/2A) taps in a cross-crease pass and a minute later, Mullan would poke in a loose ball in front. Justin Larose (1G/1A) would then score from the top of the slot and with 35 seconds left to play, Mullan would add one more for good measure as OBB wins their 2nd game in a row by a score of 7-0.

OBB – Stephane Portelance – 10 shots

VKG – Andy Hoang – 23 shots

Fumbuckers vs Savage Seagulls

Where the Shots At?!… The 2nd game of the evening saw Fumbuckers taking on Savage Seagulls. First to strike was SS in Spencer Brunet from the side of the net. Not 20 seconds later, Adam Winges (3G) would find the back of the net while the goalie was out of it. Before the end of the period, Dom Caminiti (2G) would go up high in tight to make it a 3-0 game for SS, shots 12-4 in their favour. SS would keep things going in the 2nd half as A. Winges would intercept a bad pass in the slot and had all day to shoot. He would score another, his 3rd of the game, this time as we saw him turn and shoot at the top of the crease. With 10 minutes or so to go, FUM would put their first on the board in Dave Bean as he went five-hole. Later, Tom Powell would chip it in over the goalie’s pads. They would add one more from Caminiti as SS wins this one at 7-1.

SS – Matt Winges – 6 shots

FUM – Jesse Pilon – 22 shots

The Spitting Llamas vs Blades of Steel

Always Within Reach… Next up was The Spitting Llamas facing off against Blades of Steel. TSL would score the first goal of the game in Colin Pritchard who banged in a backwall rebound down low. A few minutes later, Evan Landry would send one mid-glove to make it 2-0 for TSL. In the 2nd half, Tyler Villeneuve would add another for TSL, a snap shot on the run. For most of the period, BOS spent most of their time defending as they couldn’t get it by the blue line into the offensive zone. Eventually, with 4 minutes or so left to play, Ben Doucette would find the back of the net as he buried a rebound. We sat at 3-1 for TSL, with a few minutes to go. In the end, TSL would hold on to their 2-goal lead as this one ends 3-1 for TSL.

TSL – Jean-Simon Demers – 11 shots

BOS – Dana Wright – 27 shots

Vicious Chickens vs Wang Gang

Shorty One, Shorty Two… The last game of the night had Vicious Chickens battling against Wang Gang. The first goal of the game, which proved to be the only goal of the 1st, went to VC as Dylan Atkison (1G/2A) shot it in off the draw. At the end of the period, the shots were 16-9 for VC as they had the 1-goal lead. A few penalties would plague the start of the 2nd period and VC wouldn’t let that stop them as they would score not one but two short-handed goals. The 1st in Jack Lutzko with a wraparound and the 2nd as we saw Jacinto Medeiros (3G) go forehand to backhand, sending it mid glove. Then, Brad Richard (2G) would fool the goalie with a one-timer down low on a power play, giving VC a 4-goal lead. In the last 3 minutes of the game, things would deteriorate for WG as Medeiros would score 2 breakaway goals within a minute and a half of each other, both sending them five-hole. With seconds left on the clock, Richard would add the final nail in his coffin as VC wins this one 7-0.

VC – Andrew Riff –10 shots

WG – Michael Sterling – 28 shots

RECAPS

Sacred Blue vs. Redline

RL wasted no time in getting an early lead with Jeff Armstrong’s goal at the side of the net. Halfway through the period, SB’s Chris Beaulne tied the game. It didn’t take long for RL to steal back the lead as Armstrong scored his second goal on a backhand top cheese. Shots were almost even at 10-9 at the buzzer. Another quick start to the second as RL extended their lead to two with Lorne Barclay deke in front. SB were trying to string something together, but RL kept the pressure and popped in another two to make it a 5-1 game with 11 minutes left. Muhamed Adatia had the last goal of the game as he squeezed one in fivehole. RL took the 6-1 victory.

RL- Behrooz Amoli- 14 shots

SB- Frank Massie- 23 shots

Gnomes vs. Filthy Bastards

Game two had another quick start as FB’s Zach Racine scored 45 seconds into the game. GNM responded shortly after with a rebound goal from Paul Crupi. GNM had the chance to take their first lead with a powerplay, but FB killed it off to keep the game tied. Back at even strength, GNM went to work and scored the next two before the end of the period to go up 3-1. They kept that pressure in the second and a couple shifts in, Michael Crupi and Joey Matta scored back-to-back rebound goals. FB got one back to make it a 5-2 game with Dan Bujold’s low shot in front. Unfortunately for them, that was the closest they would get as GNM won 5-2.

GNM- Kim Leang-Him- 19 shots

FB- Matt Charles- 18 shots

Stealth vs. Dirty Royals

DR came out guns blazing and scored less than a minute in as Alex Martin sniped one from the high slot. It took a while before STH got the equalizer with Jacob Mackenzie’s goal. One bad shift for an STH player resulted in a six-minute powerplay for DR. STH killed off the entire PK, only allowing a few chances on net. DR outshot STH 11-5 in the first. A quick goal from Brock Murray on the back door put DR up 2-1. They were all over STH and kept getting chances in close when Josh Toltesi roofed it top cheese. A couple minutes later, Brock Murray completed the hatty with back-to-back goals. The remaining time expired and DR had the 5-1 victory.

DR- Mitch Tennian- 9 shots

STH- Brad McCallen- 21 shots

Bud Busters vs. Nadoes

Our last game of the night was the closest of the four. NAD had the first one as Cameron Scrivens buried one from the slot. A couple shifts later, teammate Keon T-R pushed their lead to two with a low shot in front. BUD went down 3-0 before they were able to crack the goose egg. It was captain Mike Henter that got BUD on the board with his tap in on the back door. With just a few minutes left in the game, BUD’s Khalil Issam scored to get them within one. With the goalie pulled at 1:40, BUD had a few chances to even the score, but NAD tender shut the door as they held on for the 3-2 win.

NAD- Braden Goebel- 27 shots

BUD- Austin Delaney- 24 shots
