Hat Trick Ball Hockey League
Coed Kanata - Friday

Weekly Update

Our first ever night in this league is over and it went very, very well. Many were surprised at the size of the gym and how bright it was!

Congrats to Litt St-Jean who scored the first ever goal in this league 😊

The two games were very exciting! The first was a battle between two strong teams with lots of talent and one stepped on the gas early to take a big league. The second game saw a 4-0 lead at half disappear and required a shootout to decide the winner!

Top Performers

Kiyomi Takahara was our top female tonight as she set up TWO big goals and scored ONE of her own in a big game. To the males we go, and we had four lads who had three points each, so we decided on captain Jordan Beauchamp who scored THREE times for the Hat Trick! In nets, Steve Toste was a beast making 34 saves in regulation and stopping all three shooters he faced in the shootout!

Buzzkills vs The Bar

In the first Friday night Kanata game familiar foes took to the gym as BUZZ took on rebranded TB. With the teams getting back into the swing of gym hockey, it took a little time to get some scoring on the board. With under 8 minutes, BUZZ would break the deadlock as Litt St-Jean opened the season with a squeaker. BUZZ started to really feel good late in the frame as they Andrew Stephens, Alex Rogozynski and Kiyomi Takahara put there team up 4-0 at the break. After BUZZ picked up an early goal in the second, TB finally got on the board as BRYCE St. Amour scored on a rebound attempt. Moments later, TB found the back of the net again, this time from the stick of Sophie Berthiaume to bring her team within 3 goals. However, Nevill Carney grabbed a high pass out of the air, made a nice move towards the net and with a gentle flick of the stick, scored the highlight reel goal. TB tried to get back into the game picking up 1 more goal but were unable to get over the hump. BUZZ start the season with the 6-3 victory.

Come Together vs Floorida Water

A couple new teams to Kanata as the CT took on FW.  The opening period was one sided as the put together team CT opened the scoring. Curtis Stacey took a hard shot on net from the wing, which blew by the netminder, 1-0. Towards the end of the period, CT was getting comfortable as David Hayes roofed his shot to extend the lead. With a little luck, CT went onto the powerplay and with a high wrist shot by Terry Derouchie, the red light went on and 3-0 was the score. At the break, CT led the game 4-0. FW was able to calm things down at half and regrouped in the second. Jordan Beauchamps scores back to back goals, cutting the lead in half. After a tight angled goal made it 4-3, Kyler Mayer buried his shot to tie the game. The teams exchanged goals later in the period, but neither was able to pull away making it the first shootout of the year. After thee first 2 shooters were unable to score, Terry Derouchie buried his attempt, while FW was unsuccessful. CT come out with the hard-fought shootout 6-5 win.
